Shunyi Wucai Qianshan Trail
A trail in Shunyi’s Qian Mountain area in northeastern Beijing.
The Shunyi Wucai Qianshan Trail is located in the Shunyi shallow mountain area in the northeastern part of Beijing Municipality , passing through the five towns of Longwantun, Mulin, Zhangzhen, Dasungezhuang, and Beishicao, with a planned total length of 280 kilometers. In 2012, Shunyi District initiated the “Wucai Qianshan” development strategy, constructing a national hiking and fitness trail based on mountain resources. In October 2013, the first phase of the project was completed, opening 125 kilometers of trails connecting Anlilong in Longwantun and Tangzhi Mountain in Mulin. Built in accordance with the National Hiking and Fitness Trail Standard, the trail system includes 28 rest stations, 6 campsites, and a rescue signage system, forming a three-in-one structure for self-driving, mountain biking, and hiking. This creates an internationally leading hiking and fitness system comprising “2 main routes and 10 loop routes.”
The trail’s planning won the second prize in the 2015 National Excellent Urban and Rural Planning and Design Awards. It was constructed using ecological engineering concepts, utilizing and upgrading existing roads, with wooden steps laid on sections where the slope exceeds 25%. Colorful foliage forests were planted along the route to form scenic belts. In 2015, it received 800,000 tourist visits, generating 240 million yuan in comprehensive tourism consumption. The annual net income per capita for local farmers increased by 63.6% compared to 2012. According to the plan, the trail will connect with sections in districts such as Haidian and Changping, with the entire Thousand-Li Shallow Mountain Beijing Scenic Trail expected to be fully completed by the end of 2027.
